Understanding Salt Melting Efficiency
We often get asked how much salt can be melted in a certain amount of time. I found a graph illustrating the slowdown when temperatures plummet. Typically, 46 lbs. of ice can be melted per hour, but with the temperatures we’ll experience this week, that rate drops to just 4 lbs. per hour. This significant difference impacts material usage and our ability to clear areas quickly. We hope this helps explain the challenges we’ll face with the colder temperatures compared to recent seasons.
